The Backstory
I’ve always struggled with finding bras that fit me perfectly, especially when it comes to strapless bras. However the problem became more predominate after college when I lost all the fried chicken and alcohol weight. As I shed the pounds, I also lost the boobs (sad days). I have always had a very small rib cage and a smaller chest, but it was to the point where I literally could not find anything that would fit comfortably. Employees in the stores I would shop at would recommend I try the children’s section (ouch). In the past I’d always shopped at Victoria’s Secret where I would buy the strapless bombshell bra, but my size 32A strapless bras weren’t fitting me right anymore, sliding down etc, and it’s extremely difficult to find a band size smaller than that. On the VS site it does say they carry smaller, but the options are limited.
The Research – Upbra Review
I first learned about Upbra through a YouTube video suggestion. I had never heard of this company before and was intrigued. From there, I watched several more reviews, all of which were very positive. These were from woman with not just smaller busts, but larger ones as well. While I was there for the strapless bra reviews, they also carry regular bras as well as swimwear. While VS bras run upwards of around $50 or so, the Upbra is around $89, which is quite pricey for a bra. Initially I was turned off by this, but then realized I was running out of options. So I decided to take the risk and invest in the Upbra. Let me tell you, I was not disappointed.
*Pros & Cons of Upbra Strapless Bra and VS Bombshell Strapless Bra*
The selling point for me with the Upbra was the adjustable cups. I love that you can tighten them to enhance your cleavage, as well as to lessen your cleavage if you wish. There really isn’t much padding in it, but you would never know it by the lift you receive. Also the adjustable cups help keep the bra from slipping down your rib cage, which is a problem I’ve had in the past. Although most bras have the silicone strip to prevent this, it eventually gets worn out and stops working as well. Here’s the kicker, Upbra had already thought of this! So they decided to provide you with FOUR band hooks instead of the generic 3 to prolong the life of your bra as it starts to age and become worn out.
The only downfall to me was the fact that you cannot throw this bra in the wash (tried that and ruined it). Hand washing is your only option. Technically you aren’t supposed to do this with any bra, but I’ve always thrown my VS bras in the washer and dryer without much of an issue.
Overall I would say the cost per wear is certainly worth it, and you can be assured of the fact that your bra will NEVER slip down your rib cage again, and the girls will always be nice and supported. It’s a win-win in my book!
